- Key highlights
- The Chennai Prospective Study recruited over 500,000 adults, nearly one-third of Chennais population, to investigate factors contributing to higher mortality rates compared with Western populations. The study uses verbal autopsy methods to determine causes of death where official records are unreliable. It evaluates the associations of tobacco use, quid chewing, alcohol consumption, obesity, blood pressure, respiratory function, and other lifestyle factors with overall and cause-specific mortality.
